DISTINCTIVE DOCTRINES OF VICTORY CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP:

  • We believe that, through faith in God, you can live the victorious, overcoming Christian life. (Romans 8:31-32; 1 John 5:4) We believe that through faith in God and His Word, Jesus enables the believer to experience "life, and life more abundantly." (John 10:10) and that God "gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" and "always causes us to triumph in Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:57 - 58; 2 Corinthians 2:14). However, even though God has "given us all things that pertain to life and Godliness" and made us "partakers of the Divine nature", God says that His people "perish for lack of knowledge" (2 Peter 1:3-4; Hosea 4:6) - lack of knowledge of who God is, who they are in Christ, lack of knowledge of the Word of God, the voice of the Holy Spirit, faith, prayer, the believer's authority, etc. This is why we believe the renewing of the mind through the teaching of the uncompromised Word of God is so vital. (Romans 12:2)

  • We believe in the priesthood of all believers, and that every born-again person has direct access to God and has the responsibility for personal growth in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ (1Timothy 2:5; 1 Peter 2:2, 5, 9; 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16-17).

  • We believe the Holy Spirit gives to every true believer power and spiritual gifts. (Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Romans 12:6-8) ) The purpose of spiritual gifts is to enable the church to fulfill its mission of exalting Christ, empowering believers, and evangelizing the world (1 Corinthians 12:12). We believe believers can be baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking/praying in a beautiful, spiritual, heavenly language. (Acts 2:1-4; Mark 16:17; 1 Corinthians 14:2, 14-15, 39; Jude 20) This is not necessary for eternal salvation but rather, beneficial for this life enhancing the believer's prayer life, walk with God, and communication with God.

  • We believe that God hears and answers prayer today, performs miracles and does heal. We believe that the gifts of healing and the gift of miracles are active today and did not "pass away" with the Apostles (1 Corinthians 12:1-11; Hebrews 13:8).

  • We believe that believers are to uniquely demonstrate their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ through water baptism and communion. Water baptism is the outward demonstration of a believer's inward faith that Christ died for his/her sins, was buried, and that He has risen from the dead. We practice baptism by immersion. Communion is a physical reminder that Christ died for our sins and a memorial to Him until He comes again. As important as these are, they are not to be regarded as essential for salvation (Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34).

  • We believe that every local church is free to govern its own affairs under Christ and should seek to support the unity of all Christ-honoring churches and ministries (Colossians 1:28; Ephesians 4:3-6).

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will physically return to rescue His Church before the Great Tribulation, after which He will establish His physical reign on the earth for 1,000 years (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Revelation 19:11-16, 20:4-7).

  • We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is to be the salt of the earth and light of the world. The church is responsible to address the specific issues of each generation based upon the authority and conviction of God's Word; it is a grave failure for the Church to be silent on the moral issues of the day (Matthew 5:13-16; James 4:17).
