MISSION PROJECTS
SOLES FOR SOULS
Non-profit organization Soles4Souls Inc. has committed to collect and distribute shoes to people living in extreme poverty and recovering from natural disasters. The shoe charity provides one pair of shoes to a person in need every 7 seconds. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has distributed more than 13 million pairs of shoes because of the generosity and commitment of people and various organizations around the country.
From September through the end of December, Victory Christian Fellowship asks the community to become a force of change by donating your new or gently worn footwear and/or financial donations to make a tangible difference through the gift of shoes. Every donation will support the charity’s initiative to distribute shoes to those in need!
If you would like to take part in this project, please bring shoes to Victory Bookstore at 112 West Main Street, hours Monday- Friday 9:30 to 5:30. Please rubber band your shoes together by pair, and if you wish, include a donation to help cover shipping costs. Any shoes you can bring in will be appreciated - tennis shoes, high heels, kids shoes, teen shoes, boots, work shoes, sandals, flats - every type of shoe is needed!

COLUMBIA PARACHUTE PROJECT

For more than 40 years, Colombia has been terrorized by kidnappings and murders resulting from power struggles between drug lords, revolutionaries and paramilitary groups. But in the midst of the chaos, brave Christians in Colombia are risking their lives to spread the gospel.
One of these brave individuals is a pilot named Russell. Flying only a few hundred feet off the ground, Russell opens the window of his Cessna and drops a parachute over a guerrilla camp. In a bag suspended from the parachute are a Bible and other Christian materials, sometimes including a shortwave radio pretuned to two Christian stations. Before the parachutes are dropped, the radio is turned on so that even if the parachute catches in a tree, someone will hear the radio and climb up to retrieve it.
"I've been shot at a few times," Russell says, "and one of my aircraft had multiple bullet holes in it."
The danger is real, but Russell (a co-worker with The Voice of the Martyrs) and his team are committed to delivering the Word of God where there is no conventional means of delivery.
"I have seen many guerrillas turn from their violent ways after reading the Bible and listening to our radio broadcasts," Russell explains. "If we want peace in Colombia, we have to point people, even terrorists, to the true source of peace and forgiveness."
The Victory Christian Fellowship kids class is making parachutes to use for these Bible drops in Columbia. Together they cut the fabric, attach the ribbons and write a message on the parachute in Spanish. $5 will sponsor the making and sending of one parachute to Columbia. If you would like to a sponsor a parachute you can make a donation to the project by sending a donation to Victory Christian Fellowship, 112 W. Main Street, North Manchester, IN.

JUSTICE IS THE MOVEMENT

Justice is the Movement meets on the first Wednesday night of each month and is dedicated to ending modern-day slavery in all its forms. We begin by educating ourselves about the various forms of slavery that exist in the world today. We then turn that knowledge into actions that bring justice to the oppressed.
Money is raised through our Loose Change to Loosen Chains fund (www.lc2lc.org) and used to support various abolitionist activities. These include:
+ Buying Not For Sale coffee sleeves (www.thenotforsalecampaign.org) and placing them in Kenapoca Mocha and Zook’s Cafe to raise awareness that "slavery still exists and the antidote might be you."
+ Writing letters to Food Network chefs encouraging them to use and promote Fair Trade chocolate rather than chocolate made from cocoa beans harvested by slaves.
+ Selling Free Set Bags and baked goods to raise support for India Partners and victims of sex slavery.
+ Selling Fair Trade chocolate to offer an alternative to “slave chocolate” brands like Nestle, Hershey’s, and M&M Mars, Inc. while bringing an end to chocolate slavery.
+ Knitting hats to send to the Regina Pacis girls who have been rescued from sex slavery in Europe (www.reginapacis.org).
+ Creating awareness-raising posters and handouts through Photo Shoots for Freedom. Justice is the Movement continues to seek new ways to raise awareness and raze modern-day slavery. We are motivated by God's command to "Learn to do good. Seek justice. Arrest oppressors. Defend orphans. Plead the case of widows." Isaiah 1:17

FAIR TRADE STORE

The Fair Trade Store takes place on the second Sunday of every month. Fair Trade chocolate bars, chocolate chips, cocoa powder, and hot chocolate mixes are sold at cost after church by members of Justice is the Movement.
Slave and child labor is an integral part of the cocoa bean supply chain in several West African countries. Fair Trade companies ensure that no slavery or child labor is used to harvest the cocoa beans that go into their products. In addition, harvesters are paid a fair wage for their labor and often use their profits to build schools or hospitals for their communities.
Selling Fair Trade chocolate is one of the ways Justice is the Movement seeks to end slavery in all its forms and at the same time enable vulnerable people to become self-sufficient.
