Jesus told the people who had faith in him, "If you keep on obeying what I have said, you truly are my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31-32, CEV)

What is a disciple? A disciple is a learner, a follower. Disciples are the salt of the earth. The life of a true disciple flavors and preserves the society. Such saltiness is an essential part of a disciple's character which will endure to the end. For Christian influence to permeate and preserve society, disciples must get involved in people's lives and in the cultural issue and concerns of our day. Disciples do not withdraw from society to preserve our holiness. Disciples involve themselves in all parts of society to give it a righteous flavor. If the disciple is to bring flavor to society, then he must possess the special qualities and characteristics of discipleship. If the disciple is tasteless, he is of no more value than salt that has lost its qualities of being "salty." Salt is valuable only when it flavors food as it is expected to do. Disciples transform things by being transformed themselves! (Romans 12:1-2)
